Deus ex machina rate
(Expression) The God from a machine lowered on the stage by mechanical contrivance in some ancient Greek plays (e,g. Euripides) to solve the problems of the plot.
It is also used pejoratively for any improbable or unexpected contrivance by which an author resolves complications in plays or novels. In Shakespeare's As You Like It, the introduction of Hymen into the last scene to marry off the main characters.
