trophy wall
Definitions
(Noun) Traditionally, a wall with mounted animal heads, but nowadays another meaning is perhaps more widespread: a wall, often in a politician's office, filled with photographs/plaques/awards designed to show off how important the principal is.Usage: A State Senator's trophy wall might include a photo of him/her with a United States Senator; a United States Senator's trophy wall might include a photo of him/her with Barack Obama; but Barack Obama doesn't need and presumably doesn't have a trophy wall.
(Noun) (Informal) Traditionally, a wall in one's home where stuffed animal heads are displayed. But nowadays more commonly a wall in one's office displaying awards and photographs of you with someone more important.
Usage: The Congressman's trophy wall included a photograph of him and a grinning Barack Obama, but Barack Obama doesn't have a trophy wall for some reason. (Ronald Reagan did, but didn't know better.)
