transsexual
Definitions
(Noun) a person having a strong desire to assume the physical characteristics and gender role of the opposite sex.Or: transexual / TS :
1. A person anatomically of one sex who strongly believes he/she belongs to the other sex, one whose primary sexual identification (or psychosexuality) differs from his/her physiological sex. Researchers believe that true transsexuals possess the brain of one sex trapped in the body of the opposite sex. Such a person wishes to live or already lives in the opposite gender role and may request medical intervention (hormonal and/or surgical treatment) in order to achieve the right body. Thus a transsexual has little or no trouble adapting to sex-reassignment surgery. Not all transsexuals undergo sex (or gender) reassignment surgery (SRS or GRS) and transsexualism has nothing to do with sexual preference.
2. A person who has undergone hormone treatment and/or surgery to change from his/her anatomical sex to the opposite sex.
