sternutatory
Definition
Cranial nerve reflex observed in neurologically compromised people. It is elicited by tactile stimulation of the nose, in which the patient pulls back the head and slightly turns the face away from the examiner.Usage: The sternutatory reflex was elicited in the patient by gently inserting a cotton swab in the nares, causing her to reflexively turn and pull back her head.
