(Noun) In contemporary usage, contraption alongside a residence or office building whereon artisans can clean off accretions of soot; or modernize the outside wires or pipes. The planks of the scaffolding are linked up by metal bars.Usage: A scaffolding will be set up on River street in September; the house's facade will recover great loveliness when its disappearance comes.
