Definitions
(Noun) A person who supplies information, particularly to the authorities about other people.Usage: The informant told the company about the problem.
(Noun) Usually pejorative. A person who supplies secret information to "the enemy" - be they lawful or not - about other people.
Usage: The informant told HMG that certain individuals were IRA members who had committed crimes that led to them being convicted and hanged. When the IRA found out what the informant did, he suffered the identical penalty.
