After the fact.Usage: An ex post facto law is one where a certain activity is declared to be illegal after you've done it (and you're convicted accordingly) - whereas it was perfectly legal beforehand. Under the U.S. Constitution, ex post facto laws are a no-no, but the George W. Bush Administration simply ignored such restraints.
