cruft
Definition
(Noun) Obsolete or outdated software code.Usage: When a program remains in active development over a long period of time, or is the product of many different hands, there is tendency for cruft to develop. These whirlpools of code may be completely obsolete, or may serve to connect newer portions of a program to the original. The resulting obfuscation is seldom intentional in non-proprietary projects.
