(Noun) The International Typographical Union was the first union in the USA. When printers first tried to organize they told their bosses that they were a religious society. Eventually each union print shop was called a chapel. Thus, the shop steward was called the Chapel Chairman.

Usage: The chapel members gathered together when the chapel chairman called a special meeting.
