(Abbreviation) Transportable Aircraft Maintenance Yard(Abbreviation) Transportable Aircraft Maintenance Yard. A Royal Navy World War II unit designed to provide mobile aircraft repair facilities in forward areas. Only one was operational before the atomic bombs ended the Pacific War. It was set up at Archerfield in Australia, where it assembled, repaired and flight tested Corsairs, Seafires, Hellcats, Avengers and Barracudas. The US Navy equivalent was called Carrier Aircraft Service Unit (CASU).
