(Noun) Longtime (1963-1979) Washington Post publisher, first de facto, then de jure. Famous for her role in the Watergate affair, when she refused to cave in to Nixon Administration's threats, denunciations, belittling and so on.Usage: John Mitchell, Nixon's Attorney General, apprised by Carl Bernstein (a Washington Post reporter, of a forthcoming Watergate article, elegantly snarled "Katie Graham's gonna get her tit caught in a big fat wringer if that's published." It was, John Mitchell went to jail, and Graham had a bracelet made showing a female breast caught in a washing-machine wringer.
