forge

Definitions

forge rate
(Noun) The tool used by a blacksmith, farrier, and some jewelers to heat metals prior to working them. Traditional forges consist of a fire-pot, which holds the fuel (such as coal, charcoal, dung, etc.), with an air feed in the bottom or the side to provide a temperature-increasing oxygen blast. While coal (and to a lesser extent, charcoal) forges are still common, many modern forges are instead fueled by natural gas, and are thus different in construction from their solid-fuel counterparts.
