Chainlift
Definition
(Noun) A lifting mechanism installed on the chassis of a road vehicle that enables lifting of roll-on type containers from the ground, transporting them to destination and lowering them to the ground. Containers can also be transferred horizontally to loading platforms or rail wagons. The same mechanism can be used to transport and tip bulk containers. Chainlift equipment is in the same category as Hooklift and Cable Hoist equipment, all used to handle roll-on type containers. The chainlift is the only one in this category that can transfer containers perfectly horizontally. It is fitted with an automatic coupling system so that the driver does not have to get out of his vehicle. Loading and transfer times of containers are the fastest in this category.
