(Noun) a broad class of volcanic rocks which were formed by ash falling into a body of water . Contains many channel ways for liquids and gasses to pass or be filtered down to a few microns. see microsieve, pumice, clinoptilolite
Usage: Zeolites are replacing sand in water filtration systems.
