waveguide window
Definition
(Noun) A waveguide window is a rectangular insulator (dielectric such as Z-cut quartz, alumina or glass) that is hard-soldered (typically 80Au/20Sn) into a rectangular waveguide in a high-frequency (4 GHz and up) package or circuit. The waveguide window (WW) can be emplaced in the same process as feedthroughs are emplaced: a simple solder cycle.Usage: Waveguide windows, .005" thick by .125" x .125", premetallized with Ti, W and Au, were hard-soldered into the package.
