vigas
Definition
(Noun) The exposed rafters or roof beams used in Spanish style architecture. It is usually a trimmed and peeled tree trunk. When the ends of the beam protrude through the exterior plane of the adobe wall it is called an exposed vigas.Usage: The vigas were 8" in diameter and spaced 4'-0" on center.
