unsprung
Definition
(Adjective) 1. not supported by springs. A technical term. In high-performance motor vehicle racing the "unsprung weight" - wheels and brakes and short axles that are not supported by springs and shock absorbers - has a critical effect on the handling of the vehicle.2. colloq. in upholstery and bedding, springs that have been detached from the frame and no longer doing what they were designed to do, may be said to be "unsprung."
