tulipomania
Definition
(Noun) An early-1600s Dutch "madness" wherein stolid burghers bought and sold, for outlandish terms, no joke - tulip bulbs.Usage: "I just bought a 'Semper Augustus' bulb for 1,000 acres of the finest farmland, then I bought 10,000 Internet shares figuring any research at all was unnecessary, then I was placed in a padded cell - but the proceeds from the subsequent sale of that 'Semper Augustus' bulb at 100,000,000th the price I paid let me live in lunatic luxury."
