telechine
Definition
(Noun) In classic mythology, a magical sea-spirit with access to Death's Portal in the Whirlpool of the Milky Way (Hamlet's Mill, p. 74 1969). Plying the galaxy's Stream of Time that drains south to Canopus/Eridu (Eridani), telechines may represent Charon's crew that ferries souls across death's River Styx. Probably they align with Mermaids and sea-folk who lure mariners to destruction with false beacons, dooming victims to dance forever on sea-floors called Fiddlers' Green.
