sniper rifle
Definition
(Noun) A sniper rifle is a rifle which shoots more accurately at a long distance than similar rifles. They are often fitted with telescopic sights and usually shoot high powered ammo. Historically sniper rifles were selected from batches of other rifles made from the same plant or hand machined for accuracy. Modern snipers are specialized rifles which are designed and created for high accuracy. These rifles were made to take down human targets originally. However, some variations of modern sniper rifles are made to destroy large vehicles in addition to human targets. Most current sniper rifles have an effective range from 600 meters to over 2,300 meters. However, there is no minimal or maximum range which classifies a rifle as being a sniper rifle.Usage: Many sniper rifles are used against targets under 100 yards.
