(Adjective) used to describe any written work that was influenced by the work of William Shakespeare; also applied to Shakespeare's own work when categorizing his poetry and plays as tragedies, comedies, etc.
Usage: Although his play was written in a shakespearean style, it was not very good.

"Romeo and Juliet" is a good example of a shakespearean tragedy.
