(Noun) martial arts teacher, karate-do instructor in a dojo, respected leader. A dojo has only one sensei. A student has only one sensei. A lesser status person would refer to higher status person as sensei in important activity or duty. One who has gone before, an experienced individual who leads others forward and takes responsibility for their actions.

Usage: After entering the dojo, we announce " gooday sensei" and upon leaving "sayonora sensei". Sensei teaches the class in our dojo. My sensei has asked me to accomplish this before I leave.
Sensei will not be happy if you are rude. Always be polite, sensei will know if you aren't.
