Usage: The stadium was prettified in preparation for the match.

(Verb) To automatically convert uppercase 8.3 file names to lowercase for visual conformity with the then new Win95 long file naming convention.

Usage: To make antiquated 8.3 short file names appear similar to the new long file naming convention, Windows 95 Explorer would automatically "prettify" all but the first capitalized character (when displayed) by transparently converting each character to lower case. This mandatory conversion was thought to improve visual readability while maintaining compatibility with older FAT system hard drives, but was eventually phased out in future OS upgrades.
