(Noun) Chronic skin disease in tropical America.Caused by infection with a spirochete, Treponema carateum.
The word "pinta" derives from Spanish for "painted." Pinta is also known as "mal de pinto" (pinto sickness)and "azula" (blue).
Usage: "Pinta is primarily found in rural, poverty-stricken areas of northern South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean."
