Or: pinup. ETYMOLOGY: First recorded in the April 30, 1943 edition of Yank featuring a photograph of movie star Doris Merrick.1. A publicity still, poster or calendar of a sexually attractive girl or movie actress, naked or in swinwear, suitable for pinning on a wall.
2. Or: pinup girl / pin-up girl , a woman shown in such a photograph or a woman pretty enough to appear in such posters and calendars.
