(Noun) Literal. A different country/area, usually transcontinental, that involves directly crossing a large body of water to get to.

Usage: From NYC, London is overseas, but Florida (though flying would involve crossing a slice of the Atlantic) isn't. From Paris to London certainly isn't--the Channel's much too small.
