mitrofanoff
Definition
Operation used by the French surgeon Mitrofanoff to ease passage of urine from a long term poorly drained bladder. The appendix is used to connect the bladder to a small hole in the stomach which saves regular use of a catheter in the penis or vagina.Usage: A child with spina bifida may need a Mitrofanoff procedure to ease problems with continence.
