kancho
Definition
(Noun) the head of a family in karate circles, description or title awarded to a karate sensei after they have promoted significant serious people to black belt status. A dojo owner and shihan of karate-do who promotes/recognizes black belt status of individuals who train in a karate dojo.Usage: Ansei Ueshiro awarded the "kancho" to his longest active student/dojo owner.
