Definition
1. Increased sensitivity to stimulation.ETYMOLOGY: aisthsis is Greek for sensation.
2. The definition by Roger Blake in The American Dictionary of Adult Sexual Terms (1964): ' A condition of abnormally increased sexual desire in either the male or female, nymphomania or satyriasis. From Greek, meaning super unnatural sensations. Related Terms: erotic, eroticomania, erotism, erotomania, nymphomania, oversexed, paradoxia, satyriasis.' is etymologically incorrect: HYPER means over, above, beyond; AESTHESIA means the ability to feel or perceive.
