(Noun) (Since 1941.) A young hoodlum with a gun. (Dashiell Hammett was trying to fool his editor into thinking, from context, that a "gunsel" was a young gunman - whereas it meant "a young and inexperienced male homosexual" - and in short order the new "meaning" took over the old.)Or: gonsil / gonzel / gonsel :
1. A 19 th century term of German and Yiddish (little goose) derivation for a young, inexperienced gay male.
