Definitions
1. A young woman who follows a rock & roll band on tour, especially one who is willing to have sex with members of the band.Etymology: From Lawrence Paros in The Erotic Tongue (1984): ' The kids also swung right in, joining in pursuit of their favorite rock stars, offering their bodies in service to the muse. In tribute to their talents, Frank Zappa, of the Mothers of Invention, dubbed them groupies. But as Germaine Greer pointed out, the name had just the opposite effect from what was intended; in less than six months the term was considered an insult.'

See also: plastercasters.
Quote: Rock & roll detective Ford Fairlane (Andrew Dice Clay) in The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (1991): 'How hard could it be to nail down one groupie teenager in LA? '
