1. When first coined, a a term of endearment for a young girl. Girlie went through a process of pejoration referring to, in succession, a woman friend, a loose woman and, in the 20 ^th century, a scantily dressed young woman featured in pornographic (girlie) magazines and nude bars. The term was made popular with reference to pinups such as Betty Grable.

2. By extension, girlie can also refer to a prostitute. See prostitute for synonyms.

3. Featuring nude women. Girlie pictures; girlie magazine.
