Or: call-girl / callgirl :1. In the 1920s, a prostitute who worked in a call house, a brothel where men came to call on prostitutes.
2. From the 1950s onward, a prostitute who can be contacted by phone. Synonym: take-out hooker.
3. Today, usually a high-priced prostitute on call who only accepts appointments by telephone from a specific clientele.
