bondage and discipline

Definition

Or: bd / BD / b/d / B/d / B and D / b and d / b & d / B & D / B.D. More rarely: bondage and dominance / bondage and domination , a type of sexual relationship consisting of lightly sadomasochistic scenarios in which a submissive partner is physically restrained and then disciplined, chastised, or punished physically or psychologically by a dominant partner. Discipline is almost always symbolic and much lighter than in sadomasochism; characteristically it contains little physical pain or discomfort but relies heavily on verbal abuse, threats, and humiliation, and on light punishment and torture (spanking, whipping) to enforce obedience, servitude or enslavement. Master-slave role playing scenarios are negotiated beforehand by the partners; sexual etiquette requires that the dominant not use the situation to fulfill exclusively his/her own fantasies, particularly ones that the bottom doesn't find arousing.
