apparent resistivity
Definition
(Noun) the effective resistivity of layered soil, where each layer is of a different resistivity.Usage: When a layer of sandy soil from the earth's surface to a depth of 5 metres covers a layer of moist clay from a depth of 5 metres to 50 metres, then the apparent resistivity, measured at the surface, will be between the resistivity of sand and the resistivity of clay.
