Definition
In 1967, J.E. Schmidt ( Lecher's Lexicon ) (1967) defined this word as sexual intercourse: ' not accompanied by or the result of sexual desire. The condition is common in women whose passive attitude in the act of intercourse does not make desire mandatory '.In 1999, Peter Novobatzky and Ammon Shea ( Depraved English ) simplified that definition to: ' Sex without passion.' The word is not listed in the OED; its closest relative is acock: ' In cocked fashion; defiantly ' and they quote Jerrold (1846): ' A man who, on his outsart in life, sets his hat acock at matrimony... '.
