(Verb) formally remove oneself from; give up; relinquish; surrender(Verb) 1. to give up or renounce authority, duties or high office, especially in a voluntary or formal way
2. to relinquish power, claim or responsibility in a formal manner
Usage: The Prince of Wales will abdicate his throne in order to marry Mrs. Wallis Simpson.
(Verb) to give up formally.
In gay parlance, to vacate a public restroom to avoid a possible interrogation or confrontation with an attendant or a vice squad officer.
