XYL

Definitions

XYL rate
(Abbreviation) "Ex-Young Lady" was a term used by ham radio operators in asking each other how their spouses were. Most hams were at least 30 something or older, back when you had to learn Morse code n' stuff. I heard my Dad, "W5UWS" (long deceased) use the term when I was a punk kid.
Usage: "How's your XYL?," "over"

XYL rate
(Adult / Slang)
Or: X.Y.L. , abbreviation for ex-young lady, a wife. Rarely heard today. See wife for synonyms.
XYL rate
(Noun) Wife of an Amateur Radio operator. Abbreviation for ex-young lady. Used mainly in Morse code.
