upstage
Definitions
(Verb) To steal attention from someone; literally, to position oneself at the back of the stage (upstage) so that you are facing the audience and the person to whom you are speaking must turn to speak to you with their back to the audience and therefore lose prominence.Usage: I could not hear the baritone because the soprano kept upstaging him throughout the opera.
