Sailo
Definition
(Noun) The Sailo(s) are a dominant tribe of the Mizo Hills (formerly Lushai Hills) presently the state of Mizoram, India. The Sailo's ruled over the Mizo Hills much before the British entered the hills and continued to rule even during the British rule in India. They have their own dialect and it is called the "DUHLIAN" later changed to Mizo to unified all the other Mizo sub families. It became the official language with the formation of the state of Mizoram within Indian Union in 1986. The first Chief Minister of Mizoram was Thenphunga Sailo from 1977-1978 and from 1979-1984 Mizoram was an Union Territory during this period.Usage: The Sailo(s) are the ruler of the Mizo Hills, and they are known as the Royal Tribe of all the Mizo(s).
