STTOP
Definitions
(Abbreviation) Sheriff's Teen Traffic Offender Program(Noun) Sheriff's Teen Traffic Offender Program (STTOP): A safety program conceived by L.A. Sheriff's Captain Bill McSweeney in 1998. This program actively encourages citizens to report license plates and/or descriptions of drivers (especially teens) who repeatedly speed and drive dangerously through neighborhoods. Local Traffic, or Juvenile Officers, supported by the documentation of neighbor reported observations/complaints , VISIT THE VIOLATORS HOMES and aggressively discuss IMMEDIATE solutions. In most cases this involves the offenders own PARENTS imposing a substantial driving restriction of their teenager. The STTOP program (sometimes using varied acronyms) is now utilized throughout the United States. It has proven to be a highly effective community policing tool for the reduction of teenage driver death and injury.
Usage: The "STTOP" dangerous driver program has proven highly successful in saving lives throughout America.
