(Abbreviation) Packed Cell Volume - the measure of the ratio of the volume occupied by the red cells to the volume of whole blood in a sample of capillary, venous, or arterial blood, expressed as a fraction. The ratio is measured after appropriate centrifugation and is expressed as a decimal fraction. The PCV is simple measurement for detecting anemia.
