MPICA
Definition
(Abbreviation) Massachusetts Personal Information Compliance Assessment (MPICA). An assessment that will let you know if your technology is compliant with the new Massachusetts General Law MGL 93H 201CMR17.00 that goes into affect on March 1, 2010. This new law requires that all Massachusetts businesses that own, store or license personal information about a resident of the Commonwealth and electronically stores or transmits such information shall include in its written, comprehensive information security program the establishment and maintenance of a security system covering its computers, including any wireless system, that, at a minimum, and to the extent technically feasible.Usage: As a business owner in Massachusetts, I should get an MPICA to find out the locations of personal information on all computers that I have at my place of business and make sure that I have secure access control measures, if I am to comply with the new Massachusetts Law.
