Lagenian

Definition

Lagenian rate
(Adjective) Lagenian is the Irish reference to Leinster, a province in Ireland which contained the disappointing Wicklow gold mines. This definition can be found in "An Irish El Dorado: Recovering Gold in County Wicklow" by Timothy Alborn.
Note that this is a second meaning to the word Lagenian.
Usage: From the poem "Has Sorrow Thy Young Days Shaded" by Thomas Moore: "Has love to that soul, so tender,
Been like our Lagenian mine,
Where sparkles of golden splendour
All over the surface shine --
But, if in pursuit we go deeper,
Allured by the gleam that shone,
Ah! false as the dream of the sleeper,
Like Love, the bright ore is gone.
