Fisematenten

Definition

(Noun) A mainly in the State of Hamburg (City of Hamburg, Germany) used expression. It stands for "Do not create rubbish or nonsense". The word is coming from a French sentence:
During the time Hamburg was occupied by the Napoleonic troops the French soldiers asked young ladies "Visite ma tente"
(Visit my tent). This was classified by the parents as dangerous. The result was the saying "do not make visite ma tent" because of the fact, that the French was spoken only very bad from the Hamburgians, they said "do not make Fisiematenten" (Mach' keine Fisematenten!)
