(Noun) Escape and Wait is a simple fire safety technique taught to children as a part of home fire escape planning.The phrase "Escape and Wait" is easily remembered and creates a positive reaction from children during the stress of a house fire. The child is told to "Escape" from the hazard and "Wait" by the family meeting place, identified by a sign.
Usage: I told my children that if they smell smoke they should immediately go to the "Escape and Wait" and stay there until the fire department arrives.
