Decarbonization
Definition
(Verb) Reducing carbon released from a process, such as burning fossil fuels; process of reducing carbon in earth's atmosphere.Usage: Decarbonization strategies reduce greenhouse gases. Switching fuels burned to propel vehicles and thereby reducing CO2 (greenhouse gases) emissions produced per passenger mile of travel. Decarbonization practices, such as reforestation absorb excess CO2 gases from earth's atmosphere. CCS (carbon capture and sequestration) is a man-made process of capturing carbon molecules, such as CO2, and pumping it to underground storage areas to assist in decarbonization of earth's atmosphere.
