Contrapposto

Definition

Contrapposto rate
A term used to describe sculptural stances where the figure's weight is usually shifted to one side with the hip slightly out and the torso slightly shifted. Especially common in Classical Greek Sculptures.
Usage: The Statue "Doryphoros" by Plykleitos shows has a contrapposto type stance.
