Bringer Show

Definition

Bringer Show rate
(Expression) A term derived for hack comedians who are so bad that they have to bring people to a club to get stage time.

Most Comedy Clubs in desperate economic situations are saturated by this phenomenon.

Believed to have begun somewhere in New York City in the late eighties or early nineties, it has systematically destroyed the reputations of major clubs across the USA once considered to be legitimate venues which now do a lot of BRINGER SHOWS sprinkled with the occasional famous person; who show up out of loyalty when visiting their hometown for the once great club from whence they got their beginnings, often for a sandwich and/or dirty french fries.
Usage: I'm not paying that person, they are a BRINGER SHOW Comic! Tell them George Carlin once stood on that stage and charge them $5.00 to perform!
