ATAR / RAM rockets
Definition
(Noun) These rockets were developed, and put to use during the Korean war. When the usual 5" HVAR (high-velocity aircraft rocket) proved ineffective against Communist T34/85 tanks, these rockets were developed for use by U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine, and U.S. Navy attack aircraft. They proved effective against both armor and bunkers.Usage: There were six ATARs loaded on the F4U-5N Corsairs flying night attack missions in Korea.
